The 2nd International Discipleship Training School (DTS) officially began Monday the 27th of January! Truly blessed with 24 great students from 5 different nations, Cambodia, Australia, USA, Switzerland and Vietnam, we have started off this 6-month period with committing to the vision God has given us to let our light shine boldly and courageously, to continually seek God’s heart for the nations and to choose to live lives of purity and holiness by God’s good grace.

The first week has plenty of orientation information, but we have also started on lecture. Our very own staff, Rady Huch, has started to dive in to the topic of Identity. He started off with “what we do, isn’t who we are.” We all are asking questions, “Who am I?” “Why am I here?” Rady started us off with stressing that the most important thing in knowing our identity is knowing who God is. Without knowing God we cannot know ourselves, we are created in God’s image to do the good works he planned. So we have to know God to know ourselves.

Please pray for this school as it just gets started we will be diving in to Hearing God’s Voice and God’s Nature and Character I the next 2 weeks. Pray that we would lean in to God with everything we have and see him move within this school. Pray for these nation-changing students, that they would know God and know who God made them to be, walking it out in boldness.

Hello from our DTS staff 2008!

We’re about to get started on our second ever DTS here in Battambang and it’s and exciting time for all the staff at our base. Staff training for the DTS has just started and we’re spending time growing together as a staff, talking about what is required of us as staff, and listening to God about what He specifically has to speak about this DTS, and this group of students who are coming to study. Praise God because its fun growing together like this; of course we’re all nervous about doing new things but God continues to encourage us, He is more than enough. DTS 2008 will rock!

All our staff in Battambang had a 10 day holiday for Christmas which was fantastic. All the Khmer staff went back to their home provinces to visit their families and many of the foreign staff had the opportunity to go to their home countries as well to spend Christmas with their families. Even though it was only a short time it’s wonderful for us to see our families again. Living so far away from those people we love can be very difficult so we’re doing well and refreshed from our Christmas break.

Next week we have a special teacher, Ron Brewster, coming to teach us in the DTS staff training. Ron is the Base leader in YWAM Montana (USA) and we’re looking forward to the time we’ll have with him. All of us staffing the DTS feel like we have heaps to learn about being disciples of Jesus and discipling others to do the same so we’re expecting a great time with him. What we as a staff want more than anything right now is to hear God’s clear voice of direction, giving us a solid vision for DTS 2008 in Battambang.

It would be a major blessing if we could have your prayers during this time. Please pray that:

God bless you guys, and thanks for keeping updated with us working in DTS Battambang!

Thank God last week we had an amazing teacher, Brandon, who help teach us about ‘Having a Heart for the Lost’. This teaching changed our hearts so much and God really touched us, especially many of us received revelation about the reality hell and the day of judgment. This really effected our hearts in the Phase 2 school we were so motivated to go tell people about the good news of Jesus! Even though we face many obstacles and fears to go and share the Gospel, God is helping us to stand up for our people in Cambodia and tell them the truth.

Right after our week of teaching from Brandon we lead a special DTW school here in Battambang. God did some amazing things! The youth in Battambang really received from God and our team. The youth in our DTW school face the same struggles with fear and shyness like so many of us in the Phase 2 used to struggle with. I know that the students in the DTW got a deeper understand of who God is, God’s plan for their life, and the bigness of God’s call to missions and the nations. Wow! That was so encouraging for us to see the Christian youth in Battambang have this passion for the nations! It’s our desire to see youth all over Cambodia get filled up with this same passion about God and His mission in the world.

Phase 2 Update…

The first ever Phase 2 School in Battambang started off Wednesday, September 12. Eleven new staff interns hungry for more discipleship and leadership training came together with 6 current staff members to begin a 3-month school focused on developing what they had a taste of during their 6-month (DTS) Discipleship Training School.

We have broken our school in to two parts. The first is teaching and leading 6 individual (DTW’s) Discipleship Training Weeks all over Cambodia from September 17 until October 5. These 3 weeks focus on bringing the basic teachings of how to be a disciple of Christ to youth all over this country. Teachings focus on the Nature and Character of God, Hearing God’s Voice, Forgiveness, Spiritual Warfare and Missions. We also take these weeks to worship, pray and do community outreach with the youth who attend. God has been using these DTW’s to revive this new generation of follower of Jesus.

After those 3 weeks, we all meet up in Battambang. The second part of our school is focused on continuing to receive teachings on various topics, learning more about what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. Another focus is to build community with the whole family of University of the Nations Battambang through joining and leading out in all the ministries. Phase 2 Interns will join the current ministries of the Youth Center, teaching various classes, Bible, Guitar, and cooking. Along with helping ministries to the Government Orphanage, Military Hospital and creating a new opportunity for ministry at the one of the local Universities.

We are excited for the next 3 months!!. We will be learning and living together to continue to dig into the Lord and grow together in faith and community to see Jesus glorified in this land.
